The Pin Up Girl.

The 1950's brought us beauty icons like Marilyn Monroe and the era of Pin Up with a very distinctive makeup look. Pin Up makeup has lived way beyond the years of it's icons through famous celebrities such Dita Von Teese. I have to say it is one of my most favourite makeup looks and for some reason I always seem drawn to creating it when I'm wearing an all black outfit.
There's a lot of history that comes with the Pin Up look. In the 1950's it was a movement of entertainment and sexuality really. But what's left of it today is the lifestyle and fashion these Pin-Up girls would follow. Unlike other iconic makeup looks, the Pin-Up has a natural, flirtatious appeal. There isn't a lot of intricate skill involved apart from the famous feline flick which was later transformed into something more demure by stars such as Audrey Hepburn
Dita Von Teese's signature makeup resembles iconic Pin Up style. Arched brows, red lips and rosy cheeks are key aspects of the original Pin Up makeup.

Marilyn Monroe almost always sported this sexy makeup which heavily inspired later interpretations of Pin Up Makeup.
I have created my version of the Pin Up makeup look on my beautiful friend Nisha here below for you guys to check out.

As you can see I have kept the makeup as authentic as possible. I have used colours the suit the skin tone of my model. Typical Pin Up makeup has rosy cheeks but I felt the bronzed cheeks would suit the shape of my model's face better. I have heavily used highlight to keep the dimensions of the face as structured as possible and of course MAC's Ruby Woo was the only red I could think off when I thought of Pin Up. Ruby Woo is that perfect hollywood red, it looks striking on literally any skin shade! All in love this is always a makeup look that I will love and enjoy creating, but I hope this post has been interesting for you guys. I will link all the products I used below for you guys to see. If you guys have seen my Instagram post recently you'll know this look is part of a project I have just finished. The Perfect Red Lip...Part 2

If you've read my previous post on red lipstick you'll know that the best way to choose a colour is by matching you're whole look accordingly. This post will feature my really good friend Nisha, I've used Ruby Woo by M.A.C and I'm going to show you how to match your makeup properly to suit it.

So as you can see, I've used gold tones on the eyes to brighten the face. The key to matching the lips to your makeup is to make sure the whole look goes well. First red lips go very well with golds and browns. I used a darker brown mixed slightly with black to add some definition. Now this step it so create dimension on the eyes and open up the whole face. When applying a crease colour you should be cautious as to what tones will suit both the lip colour and your initial lid shade. For example, a dark purple along the crease may suit the gold tone on the lid but will clash with the red lip. Its all about look at the whole image. Heavy liner worked well with Nisha because she has big eyes but for a smaller a eye shape you may want to re think this. Here are a list of products I used to create this:

Face:
MAC Face and Body - C6
MAC Studio Finish Concealer - NC 42/ NC 45
MAC Prep and Prime Highlighter - Bright Forecast
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish  - Dark
MAC Lustre Drops - Pink Rebel
MAC Studio Fix Powder - NC 42

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
MUA Heaven and Earth Palette - The lighter gold shade
Urban Decay Smoked Palette - Backdoor, Blackout
Urban Decay Liner Peversion
Collection 2000 Liquid Black Liner

Lips:
MAC Beet Lip Liner
MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

Jessica Alba: Orange Lips

Jessica Alba always looks so flawless but this look in particular I found really beautiful. I just really like how she paired a really soft smokey eye and orange lips. I tried to create this look myself without using lashes or eyeliner to make it more low maintenance and easy to copy.

(sorry about the poor quality pictures I used my iPhone to take these)

Face:
MAC Face and Body - C4
MAC Prolongwear concealer - NC35 & NC40
Sleek Highlight and Contour Kit
MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder - Medium/Deep

Eyes:
Urban Decay -  Mushroom (over the lid), Wreckage (along the crease), Spotlight (in the middle of the lid as highlight), Blackout (on the crease bone, and under the eyes), YDK (in the tear duct)
Collection 2000 Kohl Eyeliner - Peach
Revlon Growluscious Mascara

Lips:
Mac Lady Danger & Ruby Woo Mixed.

I hope you guys liked this look, let me know if you have any suggestions for next time!

RiRi Woo...All That To Woo About??

Hey guys, sorry for my brief absence but I'm back with a vengeance!

SO i think everybody who is interested in music or beauty will have known about the recent release of Rihanna's first instalment in her collaboration collection with MAC, Riri Woo.

Now, it's been said that Rihanna took inspiration from the current MAC Ruby Woo. Now MAC for me  is always a go to place for statement lipstick colours. I myself own Ruby Woo and MAC Red. However i'm somewhat sceptical about how amazing this colour really is?

Suffice to say, the hype of Rihanna's collection was incredible with this lipstick selling out in 2 days I think. Now thats dedication girls! Rihanna always manages to look flawless and there has been some rumours that she has been sporting Riri Woo prior to it's release on several occasions. How true this is, i'm not sure, but I'm not sure if I would want to purchase Riri Woo. It seems to me, Miss Rihanna as beautiful and talented as she is, has not conjured anything innovative or creative in Riri Woo.

So my verdict? Having taken a look online and in magazines, the rest of Rihanna's collection for MAC seem somewhat interesting, having her signature embossed on all products is certainly going to be a selling point for MAC!

As for Riri Woo however, I think it's best to stick with my very much identical RUBY Woo for now!

I would love to know what your views on Riri Woo are, comment below and let me know!
