5 Products I Can't Live Without

When I love product, it's safe to say I truly love it. I will use it religiously pretty much until I find something different to love (yes i'm one of those haha). Anyways! Here are five makeup products I have stuck by for a few years now hope you enjoy.

Mac Custom Palette - Amber Lights(top left), Tempting(top right), Trax(bottom left), Expensive Pink(bottom right).
My most reached to colours when doing both night and day looks definitely can't live without these!

Mac Select Cover-Up Concealer in NC40, perfect texture and coverage leaves skin looking natural and flawless can't fault it!
Mac Amplified Lipstick - Cosmo. One of those colours you can wear everyday and with really smokey eyes on a night out very versatile.
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua - B50, great coverage, good for the skin and natural finish. Pricey but worth it by a mile.

L'oreal Volume Million Lashes, seriously one of the best mascaras out there, beats most expensive brands i've tried by far!

Break The Rules For The Perfect Red Lip!

Choosing the right red lipstick is by no means an easy task, and I'm sure I'm speaking for most women out there when I say that! When it comes to makeup advice much like me a lot of women search the internet to see what experienced makeup artists suggest.

Most makeup professionals advise us to look at the undertones of red lip colours. Fair skins are advised to chose red shades with a blue undertones, Olive/medium skins to opt for orange tones and Dark skins to choose pink tones. But what happens if you've followed this advise but are still unhappy with the result?

Here is a prime example of this, Scarlet Johansson has chosen a red shade with a blue undertone but instead of it brightening her skin tone as suggested its just left her looking pale.

However below, Scarlet Johansson has chosen an orange toned red lip and it looks so much better! Much like Angelina Jolie who opted for a pink toned red lip but looks sexy as ever.

Seems so confusing doesn't it?
My solution is think Intensity. One major factor of pulling off red lips is the intensity of the shade you've chosen.

Like Anne Hathaway balance your face makeup to work with the lip colour. Even if she had picked a blue toned red if she'd went overboard with her eye makeup, elaborate with her hair colour/style the look wouldn't have worked. This is because of the intensity of her application. It is important to remember, that your makeup, hair and outfit should work together, so when picking and applying a red lip you should look at the bigger picture!

So that's my tip on how to wear red the right way, hope this helps!

Dramatic Red Carpet Makeup

Taking inspiration from Sonam Kapoor's makeup for the Cannes premiere of The Great Gatsby (above)  I created a makeup look thats quite dramatic.

Face:
Giorgio Armani Designer Lift Foundation  - Shade 7
MAC Select Coverup Concealer - NC40
MAC Archie's Girls - Veronica's Blush
Sleek Luminous Powder - 03 (bronzer)
MAC Studio Careblend Powder - Medium/Dark

Eyes:
MAC Tempting
MUA Heaven and Earth Palette - Dark Plum Colour & Pink Highlight Colour
Soap And Glory Liner Pen - Black
L'oreal Voluminous Millions Mascara - Black
Sleek Storm Palette (black eyeshadow on the waterline over pencil)
Rimmer Khol Pencil Liner  - Black

Lips:
MAC Rebel Lipstick
Revlon Orchid Lipstick (centre of lips)

I opted for a plum tone for the lip to make it more wearable for me, I also kept the liner thicker and slightly shorter along the eye mostly because Sonam's look was very dramatic. Overall I think this look is definitely not for everyone but with an outfit as extravagant as Sonam's I wouldn't mind pushing the boat out either!

You Be Staring At My Lips Like..

MAC So Chaud is a beautiful orange toned red lipstick, perfect for tanned skins like mine. I think it'll be perfect as a soft statement lip teamed with simple lined eyes and lashes of course!

MAC Media scared me a little when I first saw it, but i've a new found attraction to bolder colours, and think this could be really sexy colour to wear with the right eye makeup.

MAC Candy Yum Yum doesn't really need an introduction, its such a fun and vibrant colour, that you can really play with. It is definitely something I will be purchasing very soon!

I am SO in love with bold lip colours, bold lips and lots of lashes are my go to makeup look of the moment. It comes as no surprise that i've been on the look out for more bolt lip colours to add to my collection. What do you guys think of these shades let me know in your comments below!

3 Ways To Get Your Summer Body

1. Move More

Take any opportunity to move more, taking the stairs, walking to closer locations, even walking up and down the stairs for ten minutes will do wonders! You'd be surprised how many calories you could burn just moving more during the day!

2. Fluids Fluids Fluids

When people get hunger pangs between meals, most of the time it's dehydration. Drink water throughout the day, keep a goal of drinking a certain amount each day. Research has proven that people who drink more water are more likely to lose weight. You could also try drinking Green Tea its well known for its weight loss benefits.

3. Cut the Carbs

As lovely as pasta and chips are, its no diet for the slim. Limit your carb intake to lunch or breakfast and incorporate more protein into your diet. When you do have carbs try and avoid complex carbohydrates that take longer for the body to break down. Foods like brown rice, brown pasta, brown bread are way better for you that all the white stuff and its a big step in getting that flat stomach!

So these are my three tips in losing weight in a healthy way for summer I hope this helps you! I have to say it's really been working for me, let me know if it works for you too

P.S I would like to just say that I believe that losing weight should be done in a healthy and comfortable way,  I don't condone crash diets and believe that these tips will actually help you follow a healthier lifestyle.

April's Love, Lust Loathe...

Being a makeup addict, I'm always looking for new products to try which means I come across products i end up loving, products I really want to buy and some that totally disappoint me! I thought it would be a great idea to create an ongoing series of posts documenting my loves, lusts and loathes of each month. I know we're quite into May but I just couldn't wait till the end of the month to post about this so here goes last months view!

LOVE

Giorgio Armani Designer Lift Foundation:
Although this foundation cost me a steep £39 I have to say its a miracle worker. I have quite a few scars from previous blemishes and I literally only needed a pump and a half to cover most of my imperfections. The best part of this foundation is its natural looking finish, when I wore this foundation most of my friends complemented me and said it didn't even look like I was wearing foundation which is always the best complement! I understand that a lot of people wouldn't be prepared to pay £39 pounds for a foundation but if you're looking for something to invest in I highly recommend!

L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes:
I have been using this mascara for a few years now, but it has never been in my everyday makeup routine. However, it's ability to make my lashes full and defined has drawn me to using it a lot more regularly recently. I've really been into mascara and bold lips recently, so this mascara is perfect for achieving this look. It's perfectly affordable at £10.99 and in my opinion meets expectations for many luxury brands! There are quite a few variations to this range most of which I have tried, but I always recommend the original version.

LUST

Chanel Bronze Universal:
Growing up watching youtube gurus constantly praise this product, it has always drawn me to one day owning this beauty. It claims to be able to be suited to all skin tones, however I have seen a few make up artists use this for other purposes than a bronzer on darker skin tones. Chanel is known for it's luxury and extravagance so I can be reassured that spending £30 on a bronzer is somewhat justifiable. One day..

LOATHE

Clinique Even Better Foundation:
Having read almost 5/5 reviews for this product on every blog I could find on the internet I was convinced that this foundation would be perfect for covering my blemish scars whilst improving them. However a series of unfortunate events made this product a definite loath for me. Starting from my shade, unfortunately for me the sales artist that tested my colour was a very convincing and managed to convince me that this orangey looking shade was intact my colour. Now in my defence the lighting in the store did in fact make my skin look like it was my shade (I know rookie mistake). Then, to my dismay when I tried it out the next day with my usual primer and finishing powder I found nothing would stop my face looking an orange greasy mess! Finally, the cherry on top of what seems like a disastrous trial was that instead of improving my skin, I actually suffered a small breakout from this foundation. Suffice to say, I have steered strongly away from this foundation since then and there a loathe it is.

The Thread Of The Gatsby Era

I love The Great Gatsby, having studied it for my A Level Literature course, I have always been amazed and captivated by the luxury and scandal lives of those living in that era. Following the close release of the new remake The Great Gatsby, I've become enthralled by the wonderfully extravagant nature of fashion of the 1920's. Just like myself, there are many of you out there dying to try out this iconic dapper look that was sported by the likes of Daisy Buchanan herself!

It seems, Needle and Thread an exclusive brand introduced by Asos.com has been bitten by the Gatsby bug more than me. Their styles mirror the era of Gatsby Fashion, and I must say i'm completely smitten! Here are a few of my favourites..

1920's fashion focused on elegance and extravagance, women of that era wanted to look expensive and pure. Needle and Thread have emulated this, through drop waist hemlines, and heavy embroidery. I love how Needle and Thread has kept their designs current and wearable, with split hems and fitted waists. I have to say i'm immensely impressed at how well these designs are, my only setback would be the extremely hefty price tag for the usual shopper. Having said this, the amount of intricate detail and effort put into these wonderful designs really do match the prices quite well.

So for all you ladies out there dying to recreate the lavish styles of Daisy and Myrtle, have a look at the high street, brands like Zara and H&M have also introduced pieces the help you on your way to become your man's very own Daisy Buchanan.

RiRi Woo...All That To Woo About??

Hey guys, sorry for my brief absence but I'm back with a vengeance!

SO i think everybody who is interested in music or beauty will have known about the recent release of Rihanna's first instalment in her collaboration collection with MAC, Riri Woo.

Now, it's been said that Rihanna took inspiration from the current MAC Ruby Woo. Now MAC for me  is always a go to place for statement lipstick colours. I myself own Ruby Woo and MAC Red. However i'm somewhat sceptical about how amazing this colour really is?

Suffice to say, the hype of Rihanna's collection was incredible with this lipstick selling out in 2 days I think. Now thats dedication girls! Rihanna always manages to look flawless and there has been some rumours that she has been sporting Riri Woo prior to it's release on several occasions. How true this is, i'm not sure, but I'm not sure if I would want to purchase Riri Woo. It seems to me, Miss Rihanna as beautiful and talented as she is, has not conjured anything innovative or creative in Riri Woo.

So my verdict? Having taken a look online and in magazines, the rest of Rihanna's collection for MAC seem somewhat interesting, having her signature embossed on all products is certainly going to be a selling point for MAC!

As for Riri Woo however, I think it's best to stick with my very much identical RUBY Woo for now!

I would love to know what your views on Riri Woo are, comment below and let me know!
